If you give a CFO a Cloud

If you give a CFO a cloud,

He’s going to ask for ROI analysis,

When you give him the ROI analysis,

He’ll probably ask you for an executive summary,

When he’s finished, he’ll ask for a meeting with the head of IT.

Then he’ll want to look in his calendar to make sure he doesn’t have another meeting.

When he looks into the calendar

He might notice a meeting with the CEO to discuss cost reductions.

So he’ll probably ask for a couple of short term cost reduction examples.

When he’s finished making himself familiar with those examples,

He’ll want a business unit to try it on first.

He’ll start thinking.

He might get carried away and think about every business unit in the company.

He may even end up thinking about other companies as...

Cloud computing and the 1st amendment

I am regular member of the ANX blog squad, as such I am on the hook every other week to turn in my post. If that’s not enough the other ANX bloggers are pretty damn smart and creative, so there is a high standard to meet in order to stay in the game hence my creativity should stay on high alert all the time. I thought it was a great post (and so did he) but it was rated one notch above PG-13 hence could not be published ……… argh….

Being the knucklehead that I am, I got pissed! In my mind it was a violation of my rights under the 1st amendment for freedom of speech. For a moment I considered embarrassing myself in a federal court...

Thank you for the ……… Spiderman!

At my 2½ year old son's pre-school, every Friday during morning recess their teacher grabs a guitar and plays a song that goes like this ....“Bless you our God and thank you for the …..”, then the teacher will point at one of the kids. The chosen kid will say what he is thankful for and then the teacher sings about what the kid selected and so on…

It's truly amazing to see how a 2½ year old kid is really thankful for the one little thing that is so important to them: Spiderman, flowers, my dog, my mommy….man I really miss my childhood!

At ANX, we are thankful for the small things like...

  • Thank you for all the cloud computing providers that makes computing-power a utility service for the masses.
  • Thank you for the architects of those companies who don’t provide...

Cloud Computing - The Devil is in the details

Unless you were living in a cave, far from any civilization, chances are you heard about The Cloud. The next big thing! The ultimate solution for all IT business illnesses. Of course, I am exaggerating but cloud initiatives are backed by major players like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, EMC and others.

Cloud means many things to many people: if you take the infrastructure as a service (IaaS) approach the cloud is a hosting solution that will eliminate the need for companies to maintain their own hardware, for others it is a utility service that will allow businesses to consume unlimited computing resources right when they need them and release them back to the cloud when they are done. If you take the Software as a Service (SaaS) approach the cloud provides applications that are...
