If you give a CFO a Cloud

If you give a CFO a cloud,

He’s going to ask for ROI analysis,

When you give him the ROI analysis,

He’ll probably ask you for an executive summary,

When he’s finished, he’ll ask for a meeting with the head of IT.

Then he’ll want to look in his calendar to make sure he doesn’t have another meeting.

When he looks into the calendar

He might notice a meeting with the CEO to discuss cost reductions.

So he’ll probably ask for a couple of short term cost reduction examples.

When he’s finished making himself familiar with those examples,

He’ll want a business unit to try it on first.

He’ll start thinking.

He might get carried away and think about every business unit in the company.

He may even end up thinking about other companies as...

Why companies expand remote access to everyone

Employees are really feeling the pinch these days. Cutbacks due to the recession mean that remaining workers are being asked to do more with less. Short of the company getting healthier as the economy improves, there isn’t a magic bullet to improve employee morale. Or is there?

A recent survey conducted by Cisco had some surprising results. Cisco was trying to learn how many businesses could enable all their employees to work remotely in the event of a natural disaster, pandemic or weather related cause. They discovered that 3 out of 4 organizations were not set up for sudden expansion of remote access to all employees. The surprising part of the...

The launch went pretty seamlessly, thanks in great part to our operations, product development and database teams. A few exceptions however have popped up, as with any launch. These have affected the following areas: blog, login, registration, Google Chrome and some streaming media. I will address the issues one by one.

Firstly, the main premise of our new site was to be rich in social media. We wanted to incorporate the best elements of Web 2.0 into our site so that we can invite interested parties to join in on...

The Importance of Remote Access From Non-Company owned PCs

As I watched reports of the east coast getting hammered by the blizzard, I wondered how many employees wouldn't make it to work.  Events like this remind me how beneficial our PositivePRO Cloud-based remote access really is.

It's widely accepted that remote access is still one of the best technologies to improve worker productivity.  Something to keep in mind when deploying remote access is that more and more individuals want to access company information from their own PC or laptop.   This is especially true of younger workers.  An increasing number of IT staffs recognize that supporting remote access from non-company issued devices is a requirement.  However, allowing such access presents unique security and support challenges.  How can security be assured?  Does the...
